I believe in making processes and performance visible and transparent, and in creating accountability. Quick fixes and semi-permanent workarounds often unnecessarily persist, and when it comes to improving processes and performance, businesses often do not use data to their fullest. The result? They miss out on opportunities. Therefore I will frequently challenge the status quo – fact-driven and always with the end in mind. Being positively opinionated, I rarely take the 'we’ve always done it like this' as a definitive answer. I take pride in balancing the need for structure, governance and ownership with continuous improvement, accountability and adaptability. This means I am not your average advisor in information strategy & visual analytics. You can’t have one without the other.
Any organization can profitably grow their business provided it makes better use of data and existing resources. This sounds like a given and yet, more often than not, this is not the case. Lack of vision, quick fixes and semi-permanent workarounds hinder progress and speed of execution. This is why, in my work, I support organizations to make better informed and higher quality decisions to grow their business, improve services and expand market share faster. I realized more than 15 years ago that cube databases and, most of all, Excel are a dead end for rapid data processing, visual analysis and ad hoc analytics. Other tools are a lot more fit-for-purpose, more visual and also easier to learn if you want to go beyond descriptive reporting and automate repetitive tasks.
This is why I recommend to first align your processes and tools with your strategic goals: data driven, rapid product development, customer intimacy, adaptability and scalability.
